How to submit material to Aikido Hawaii

Aikido Hawaii actively solicits your participation in the building of this web site. It is Aikido Hawaii's intent to reflect as much as possible the perspectives and interests of all Aikido practitioners in the state of Hawaii. Your submittals and participation in this process make this possible.

Dojo Submittals:

You can send photographs or other materials via e-mail or snail mail, or via personal contact. See Submitting Materials, below. We will work with you to create a page which meets your approval!

General Considerations:

What you should consider sending to Aikido Hawaii:

Aikido Hawaii can accept photographs, drawings, oral recordings, video's, and articles which you have written (by hand or typewritten). Articles written by others will require written permission of the author before we can include them. Because of space constraints and the Net's bandwidth limitation, video selections will have to be clipped down to very short segments: please let us know which segments of your submitted videos you are interested in seeing uploaded to the Net. Please be sensitive to copyrighted material and the feelings of others. As much as possible, get the permission of people shown on photographs or in videos to have the photographic material uploaded to the net. As much as possible identify the persons who are in the photographs you send.

Editorial Services:

Aikido Hawaii will help you polish your written submittals. We recognize that many people don't feel comfortable with their writing. If you request it, we will help you polish your writing to your satisfaction. Without your request to do so, however, we will not otherwise change your materials except to correct obvious spelling errors. Should your materials disagree with our basic philosophy, we will return your materials with an explanation and ask you to make any necessary changes. See How our philosophy may affect your entries.

Submitting Materials:

One of the easiest ways to submit material is via e-mail. If your photographs are already in electronic format, they can be attached to your e-mail. You can also mail hard-copy material . When doing so, please be sure to include instructions for returning the material if you wish to have it returned to you. Aikido Hawaii has no operating capital; self-addressed stamped envelopes for return postage are appreciated. We will treat your photographs with the greatest possible care! We use a flatbed scanner for scanning so your photographs will not be bent or creased. We can convert most mediums to electronic format. The site administrator is also available at (voice) 808-221-8656 or (fax) 808-356-0529.

Credit for your submissions:

Aikido Hawaii will credit you for your materials unless you request otherwise. If known, attach names of photographers, dates of the pictures, names of persons pictured, and any other information you can think of including, if you are willing to do so, brief paragraphs describing the events pictured.

How our philosophy may affect your entries:

Aikido Hawaii believes that Aikido "is a Way in which to harmonize all people into one family. " It is Aikido Hawaii's intent and desire to promote the unification and continuation of Aikido in Hawaii. We ask that your submittals reflect this philosophy and desire. Nonetheless, we recognize that there have been many times of shugyo in the struggle of Aikido to make a place in Hawaii. These times of difficulty are an essential part of the history of Aikido in Hawaii. Aikido Hawaii invites your contributions on the times of hardship (as well as the good times), and we ask in your doing so that you set aside as much as possible your own prejudices, any sense of hurt which you might have, and as much as possible simply state the facts and present your material with the desire to promote Aikido, and not to place blame or guilt. If we feel that your materials are too incendiary or inappropriate, we will return them to you with an explanation of our problem with the material and ask you, if you are willing, to make appropriate changes. We will do this with the greatest possible courtesy and respect.
