60th anniversary of the Nuuanu Aikido Club
2019 represents the 60th anniversary of the Nuuanu Aikido Club. We are soliciting photos of Nuuanu Aikido Club activities that members and former members may have. The photo will be considered to be used in a commemorative booklet that will be published for the celebration of the 60th anniversary.

Please label the back of each photo with the owners name and return address. Photos will be returned to senders. By submitting photos for consideration and for use in the commemorative booklet, sender agrees and gives permission to use the photo voluntarily in the commemorative booklet.

In 1959 Nuuanu YMCA became the first YMCA in the USA to offer aikido classes. In 1960 Sadao Yoshioka Sensei (1922-1990) became the chief instructor. In 1970 Aikido Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba (1921-1999) awarded Yoshioka Sensei the title of Shihan. The current Nuuanu Aikido Club instructors are students of Yoshioka Sensei.
